Free CEU Presentation on Understanding Grief and the Brain
Natick, MA – May 15, 2025 – Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center is pleased to invite healthcare professionals to a complimentary CEU presentation, “Beyond the Fog: The Complexities of the Grieving Brain,” on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM at 45 Union Street.
Led by Jaye O’Connell, MS, LSW, CAIP, CAGCS, a licensed social worker and certified mindfulness practitioner, the one-hour program offers 1 CEU credit and explores the neurological and emotional impact of grief. Attendees will gain valuable, science-based insights into how the brain processes loss, why grief can be so challenging, and how to recognize signs of Prolonged Grief Disorder.
The session is designed for case managers, social workers, hospital discharge planners, aging life care managers, and others who support aging adults and their families.
Participants will:
- Learn how grief affects the brain and triggers intense emotional responses
- Understand why the brain struggles with the finality of loss
- Explore strategies that help individuals adapt to grief
- Identify signs and responses related to Prolonged Grief Disorder
Light refreshments will be served during the program, and all attendees will receive a complimentary grab & go meal following the event.
