Updates: Infection Control, COVID Testing, Indoor Visitation Coming Soon

September 18, 2020 – We are pleased to announce that Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center has remained COVID-free for 4 months now.

Infection Control

We continue to participate in training and education programs on infection control and are revising our policies as we receive additional guidance. Our new, state of the art disinfection technology (the HaloFogger Disinfection System and the Puro Sentry M4 Mobile UV Disinfecting Unit) is being utilized on a daily basis. See our September 8th update for more information on this equipment.

COVID Testing

We continue to monitor, review and implement guidance from the Department of Public Health. New testing guidelines have also come out from the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services. We are ensuring that we are meeting both of the guidelines set out for us by these governing entities.

Mary Ann Morse completed its fourth cycle of the surveillance testing which requires us to test 30% of the negative staff.  For this cycle, we have tested a total of 69 staff, all having a negative test. The new guidance from the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services requires us to test 100% of the negative staff during the month. We are well on our way to meeting this requirement.

These requirements would change to a more frequent testing strategy if Mary Ann Morse had either one confirmed case of COVID-19 or the prevalence in the county was at an unacceptable rate.

Visitation

We have received new guidance from the Department of Public Health related to family visitation. With the cold weather coming on, indoor visits will be allowed. We will be following strict guidelines as we are with our outdoor visits. Currently we are drafting our policies and procedures for indoor visits. More information to follow in the update next week.

As always if there is anything that we can do to support you, our families, during this time, please give us a call: 508-433-4400.

Sincerely,

Carol Kapolka, Executive Director

Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center
