Greater independence and personal confidence are a few of the results our patients and residents achieve in the Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center short-term care rehabilitation program.
Managed by full time, dedicated team of rehabilitation professionals, our physical and occupational therapy staff work individually with short stay patients, seeking the highest level of functional independence possible. After hospitalization for surgery or medical treatment, many patients benefit from an action-oriented rehabilitation regimen. Our driving goal and ambition for our patients is a swift return to an active, normal lifestyle.
Rehabilitation care is often measured by gains or functional improvement in movement—how easily and confidently one walks, reaches for a familiar door handle, or turns to answer a familiar voice. In addition to these functional improvement measures, our rehabilitation professionals continuously strive to instill confidence, along with the ability to move and navigate everyday life.
For post-operative care, our nursing rehabilitation team manages patients’ pain and discomfort while carefully monitoring the healing and recuperation process. Physical, occupational, respiratory, and speech therapists work daily to guide, encourage, and move patients along the continuum of care toward the highest possible levels of functional independence while assuring quicker surgical recuperation.
Medical Rehabilitation Care
For medical rehabilitation such as following a heart attack or stroke, the medical, nursing, rehabilitation, and pharmacy teams collaborate to quickly realize the best pathway and prepare the patient and family for the road ahead. Individualized care plans guide our rehabilitation professionals, helping them to establish realistic expectations for patients as well as their loved ones. Our medical rehab team includes speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who assist with speech rehab, swallowing, phonations, and other rehabilitation goals following a stroke.
The Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center is committed to the rehabilitation progress of our short-term care residents and their families. Give us a call today at 508-433-4400 to learn more or to schedule a tour of our care center.
